Morgan Freeman’s Tea Party Views

Morgan Freeman was interviewed on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight and shared his views about the Tea Party in which he described them as racists.  Read what our readers think about his proclamations:

Mr. Freeman, I have long been a fan of your movies. However, I’m very disappointed to hear your comments on racism.
I am committed to removing Obama from office. It has nothing to do with black or white, it has to do with incompetent, socialist policy and his being a consistent liar in everything he’s done.
I care for my country, I don’t give a hoot about race.
However, I do believe that Obama IS attempting to create racial tension if not an armed racial conflict.
Please, Mr. Freeman, let the racism and racist statements go. I like the work you do, but the political statements taint that work and my enjoyment of it.
sincerely

It’s not about race, Morgan. I love Howard Cain and will vote for him in a minute. I just don’t think Obama has the answers and that doesn’t mean a race thing. I am tired of some people calling it a race card.
It is not. If he could do the job, I would vote him back in but he is not solving our problems. And the tea party is just people who love our country and see things different just like the men from history who wanted more for their country and bucked the system. We do not think our country is going in the right direction and that doesn’t mean we are terrorists. That is not a fair description. The left is much meaner than the right. We are center and would like to see everyone get the the center so we can see both sides and not see color either way. By the way, love your movies.

The Tea Party is so racist that they picked Herman Cain twice over the next candidate in the Orlando Straw Poll.

Mr. Freeman needs to search his soul and realize the outrageousness of his racist comments about those who oppose President Obama. I am white, I oppose President Obama but it has nothing…nothing to do with his race. It has everything to do with the fact that everything he’s done has been destructive of American economic health and national sovereignty.
I am offended in being branded racist for having these opinions.
Anyone who says this sort of thing is prejudiced, bigoted and racist themselves and up to no good.

Could it be that they just don’t like the president’s policies? Why does the black community always hollar racsist, it could be they are just not for socialism.

I have very much respect for you. I love you as an actor. I really enjoyed your comments on how to battle racism by not referring to me as a black man and you as a white man… but I have to disagree with you one something. I don’t think the tea party wanting saying removing Obama by whatever it takes is motivated by race. The reason: I am a Ron Paul supporter. I also like Gary Johnson. I also like Dennis Kucinich. The reason? Because they are constitutionalists. I am anti-war. I am pro small government. I am pro civil liberties.
Personally, I believe the tea party has been hijacked by neoconservatives, but at the same time, I don’t think they are motivated by race. I would probably support Herman Cain (a black man) if he were not an ex federal reserve employee who is against an audit.
The fed was recently exposed by Ron Paul for bailing out foreign banks with our tax dollars, including the bank of Libya… secretly. Is this Obama’s fault… NO. But, only one man will fight against this. Only one man wants to end the federal reserve, end all wars, abolish the IRS, allow young people to opt out of social security, fund social security for those dependent on it, and stop dipping into the social security funds. That is Ron Paul. I agree, we need to make Obama a one term president. I wanted George Bush and Obama to both be one term presidents. We need someone who is against the status quo. The original tea party, before it was hijacked by neo-cons and RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) and socialists was made up of Ron Paul supporters. Now they are parroting this ideas to get elected. Once elected, they will continue their agenda. Think about it… Overall the Rs and the Ds want the same things. They both want wars, bailouts (transfer of wealth from the poor and middle class to the rich), big government, borrowing from China, printing of money from thin air… I could go on and on. This whole two party system is just a distraction to keep you busy. So is racism. If they can keep us fighting amongst ourselves, and divided, they win.We vote in the puppets like Obama and Bush and in the background the banksters are pulling the strings. This is why nothing changes. I hope you wake up to this and help spread the message before it’s too late. I know you are a good person and not part of the establishment. Together we can break the matrix!

I do not agree with your recent remarks about racism, the Tea Party and President Obama. I believe all people should be judged on their words and actions and their color, religion, sex, etc. should be irrelevant. I agree with President Obama on some issues and disagree with him on many others. I do not think he has been an effective President and when he was being effective at getting his political agenda through I disagreed with too much of it. My disagreement with his policies and my low opinion of his leadership abilities does not make me a racist and your statement that to the contrary do nothing to improve race relations.

Mr. Freeman I hope this finds you well I just wanted to say I think you are a great person, actor and humanitarian. You seem down to earth, I’m impressed. I am sorry for criticism coming about, your opinions are always valid, I don’t know enough about tea party directives to even comment. I hope you don’t think that everyone is racist, I may not agree with everything Obama says but do believe that in their heart all presidents have the people in their best interest, or we would hope so. Anyway good luck in the future please keep doing what your doing, bringing smiles, and deep thoughts to us all. Thanks for your time sir.

To portray those who oppose the President’s policies as racist is a racist statement, pure and simple. While I didn’t vote For Mr.
Obama, I was proud as an American to live in a country where a black man can compete in and win a national election.
To ignore the mishandling of the economy, continued high unemployment, foreign affairs and forced legislation on the American public without respect for the process along with the peril associated with continued irresponsible spending has cost the president the support of large numbers of voters, not racism. The president won with the support of people of all colors and will possibly loose because many of those disagree with his job performance and policies.
To disagree with a President’s policies is NOT racist but calling those who do IS racist Mr. Freeman. I find it interesting and disappointing to learn that someone I have enjoyed and respected for so many years has so much hatred and disdain for people like me. I guess we live and learn, or live anyway.
One area of common ground existing between the two of us is our disgust of racism Mr. Freeman. And for that reason it will be impossible for me to support you and your professional career in the future.
Respectfully,
Gordon

I am so disappointed that I just have to comment. You are definitely a talented actor; no one can contest that. You are my most favorite actor! But you are wrong about the tea party. I want Obama out of office as soon as possible, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the color of his skin. He is leading this country down the wrong path.
I detest his big government, big spending views. I oppose Obamacare because of the damage it will cause to our already ailing medical community and to the small businesses trying desperately to survive. I could give you fifty more reasons why he is the wrong person to have in our White House, but not one of them would have anything to do with the color of his skin. In fact, my tea party group is backing Herman Cain, and again, it has nothing to do with his skin color. Cain’s views mirror our own and that’s the proper reason to choose a candidate. We little people have to pay the bills for this country and borrowing 42 cents out of every dollar we currently spend really concerns us. If color matters to us — it is about being in the RED instead of the BLACK because of all the GREEN we borrow. I sincerely admire your work as an actor and director. But, sir, you are way off track on this issue. It is not racist to oppose the policies of this president. It is the right thing to do for America. Thank you for reading this. Cain for President!

Mr.Freeman, I am a 66yowf who has always admired you and your work. I was derided in my youth for standing up for civil rights. Knowing how hard fought the victory of Obama’s election was, I was so happy to see the joy on the faces of his supporters, even though I didn’t agree with his plans. So I hope you can see why it troubles me that you think just because some of us want someone else in office, that is racism. Especially since I’d like it to be Herman Cain. I wish you could see that the Obamas have shown more racism than most of those who disagree with him. This is the first time I ever wrote to any celebrity. So many of them are young and have such slanted views. But you do have the carriage of a wise and thoughtful man, so I hope you will give this matter further thought, so our children and grandchildren can be led to form more considered opinions. You are an important voice for them to hear, and they need to learn to see both sides of the issues. For a lot of us it’s not about color. Thank you.

Dear Mr. Freeman, I have been a great fan of yours for many years and have always enjoyed the talent you bring to your movies and the wisdom you seem to have. I don’t understand how a person with any amount of wisdom could so easily claim people are weak and dark simply because we do not respect or agree with the direction Pres. Obama is taking the country. I have married into a “black” family and am not a racist.
Simply because I disagree with President Obama and hope he doesn’t get re-elected to continue what I believe is a negative course for America does not mean I am racist. Please use your mind before speaking with your mouth and berating thousands of people who are not what you are calling them. Broad statements like these are what are continuing the problems with racism in America. I know what America is and was not surprised that a “black” man was elected. Just because I happen to be “white” and happen to disagree with Pres. Obama’s political agendas does not mean I hate him or wish him any harm. I just want a president who is more in line with my political views elected REGARDLESS of this persons skin color. It made me so very sad to hear this statement from you.

My heart is pouring out with your comment about ‘Racism’! It is so sad that all of us are hearing about your comments about ‘Racists’!!
How many people are here in this beautiful country, America, to be able to shout praises for America? The answer is many millions of people… Are are you there in that populous?
All of those wonderful people that disagree with you, we say ‘God Bess America, And we love you’

Your comments about the Tea Party being “RACIST” is totally wrong. We only want the U. S. government to manage their budget which they are not doing!! We are $14 trillion dollars PLUS in debt and President Obama is not fixing that horrible debt!! That is is what is going to ‘kill’ the United States!!!
My wife and I love your acting as it has been wonderful but your comments are very concerning!!

You moron! Just because I don’t like Obama’s policies doesn’t make me racist. I don’t care what his race is but you do don’t you. Obama and Biden have been a total nightmare for the USA. What are you going to call me when I get Herman Cain or Allen West elected President and Vice President respectively. Dr. King said it best … It isn’t about color, its about character. You want to back a black man then why don’t back a decent real black man. I thought you had some common sense but no you are just like these idiots who thinks Obama is going to pay for everything. Idiot!

ATT: Morgan Freeman Re: Recent comments falsely accusing Tea Partyers as RACISTS. 9-24-11 If the American people WERE racists…..WHY DID THEY ELECT THIS MAN AS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES???…THIS MAN WHO HAD NO BUSINESS WINNING SINCE HE HAD NO QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE OFFICE; was a Senator for a very short time…hardly ever took a stand on any subject, had no paper trail to speak of in school, or in the work place. No one had ever heard of him, he came from nowhere….asking to be President of the United States.
The American people were beguiled by his rhetorical skills and the words he spoke: ….”we are not red states or blue states we are the UNITED STATES of America” and…”Under my administration we will have the most transparent ever” and….Any bill considered will be put on our website to be scrutinized by the American people”.
Paraphrasing now…The clouds will part and a new day will come to America….when he became president.
SO,HE IS ELECTED….AND FROM DAY ONE….HE PROCEEDS TO….
SYSTEMATICALLY AND… PURPOSEFULLY DISMANTLE THIS COUNTRY, IN ORDER TO SPREAD POVERTY AND MISERY EQUALLY, HE RULES BY FIAT AGAINST THE WISHES OF THE PEOPLE AND TOOK US TO THEBRINK.
HE WAS GOING TO BE THE SAVIOUR OF AMERICA AROUND THE WORLD….WITH HIS ABILITY TO CONNECT TO ALL NATIONS….AND ALL COLORS. THE FACT IS THAT WE ARE IN WORST SHAPE THAN EVER!!!!!! WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND (excluding Socialists) would at this point in his presidency say….YEAH!!! WE NEED FOUR MORE YEARS OF THIS GUY
OBAMA…….(??????)
THAT’S WHERE MOST AMERICANS ARE TODAY!!!!! OBAMA’S IDEA OF “HOPE AND CHANGE” IS NOT WHAT WE HAD IN MIND; NOT IF WE WANT AMERICA TO STILL BE A HEALTHY AND THRIVING COUNTRY FOR OUR CHILDREN, of which I have three, AND GRANDCHILDREN, of which I have seven.
NO!!! WE WILL NOT STAND BY NOW AND WATCH OUR COUNTRY BE DESTROYED!!!
PRESIDENT OBAMA MUST BE STOPPED!!!! We don’t give a rat’s rear end WHAT COLOR HE IS!!!…IT’S HIS DISMANTELING OF A BELOVED COUNTRY, A UNIQUE ONE EVER IN THE ANNALS OF HISTORY, WHICH HAS BEEN UNDER APPRECIATED BY THE ANKLEBITERS WHO NO ONE WILL EVER PLEASE…BECAUSE IT’S THEIR NATURE……TO ALWAYS BE MALCONTENTS.
As far as you’re concerned, Mr. Freeman, I have always admired you and the movies you’ve been in….BUT, in this matter, YOUR DESTRUCTIVE NAME- CALLING RHETORIC IS DIVIDING THIS BENEVOLENT AND FREEDOM LOVING COUNTRY….AND YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE BY YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN….WHO WILL ALSO SUFFER IN THIS DOWN TURN.
FIGHT FOR!!! THIS COUNTRY….like Herman Cain etc…DON’T JOIN THE BITING MALCONTENTS.

I am sorry to tell you that I am boycotting your new movie about the dolphin tale. Why, you ask? I am disappointed in you, Sir. I am not a Tea Party member but I know lots of people who are members. And, I do not know anybody who dislikes Obama because he’s black. Can you give me any example of the Tea Party as racists other than people disapproving of his behavior and criticizing him for it. why can’t one dislike, disapprove of, or criticize a black person and not be racist?
Mr. Freeman, I have always enjoyed your movies and have admired you. I like that you are an unhyphenated American (Marcus Lloyd’s phrase).
But, you’ve disappointed me. Too bad, as I was looking forward to the movie. Oh, am I being a racist because I disapprove of what you said?

I have never written to a celeberity, thought about it, should have but never until now. I think you are a great actor. I’ve watch Shawshank Redemption at least 20 times. It was and still is great.
I am not a Tea Party member, republican or democrat. I vote for :Who will put America and our freedom above their politics.
It was a milestone to elect a black man for President of the United States. I am white. My best friend is black and was best man at my wedding. In 1989 as a meter reader for a small town, I befriended an
85 year old black man named LeRoy. I made home made pancakes, helped bath LeRoy and made sure he had everything he wanted. When LeRoy had to go to the rest home , I visited LeRoy at various hour every other day to ensure they were taking care of him. LeRoy even had me read over him at his funeral. The only attendees were me, my son, my Mother and Dad and the town Doctor who LeRoy’s mother was the cleaning lady.
I expected nothing, asked nothing and received nothing for the care I gave to LeRoy. He was my friend and he was poor as Jobs turkey. I did what I did out of love and respect for LeRoy.
Now, I’ll speak truth here. I feel you are wrong on why the Tea Party wants Pres. Obama out. I believe there are some evil democrats, evil republicans, evil liberals and in all likely some in the Tea Party are evil. There are also some that are good in each party but not many.
I would like for you to consider the opinions of Hermain Cain, Congressman Alan West.
They’re black men and both will get my vote for President of the United States. You can’t claim race here with these men. They know that America is on a path of destruction and our leader, President Obama is taking us there. Let me ask one thing here.
If you were on a spending spree and ran all your credit cards to the max. You borrowed to the max, at what point will you get it that you can’t spend your way out of the debt you accumulated? President Obama does not get this and the Eurpoean model has not worked for the Europeans.
Please read Mychal Massie’s World Net Daly Exclusive commentary “Nero in the White House”(Mr. Massis is black0 Then tell me if you still think, Cain, West, Tea Pary and Massie want Obama out because he’s black. If there is room I’ll paste Massie’s column here.
Mr. freeman I wish you the best.

Dear Mr. Freeman,
The members of tea parties and grassroots organizations do NOT objective to the color of Obama’s skin. We object to his socialist/marxist policies that he has pushed on the American citizens and how he continues to hard to crush our economy, bring down our country, do away with the middle class. It is clear he is a proponent of socialism; he is a fan of the European Union and feels the U.S.
should be like that. He is also a proponent of U.N. Agenda 21 (aka Sustainable Development).
I am not just “judging” him; I’ve done a lot of research on this, on him.
Obama is a very smart man; he can see that stimuluses and this job plan will NOT create manufacturing jobs; that is what the U.S. needs.
High taxes and unreasonable EPA regulations have driven corporations out of this country.
Mr. Freeman, again, please understand, we have no bad feelings toward Mr. Obama being a black president. Just as we have no bad feeling toward Mr. Herman Cain running for President; we actually very much support him – many of us.
So, look at the way Obama has been governing – it is clear he is driving us quickly so a socialist country, and once U.N. Agenda 21 is completely implemented, we will have a soviet/communist lifestyle here in the U.S. We will have lost every freedom the Constitution gave us.
Please reconsider your remarks about the tea party being racist.
Sincerely,
Jane B

May I please share another view of President Obama?
We wanted Obama to work out – to show the world that the US is not small minded; but, he did everything the prejudice people said he would. I am sad to report, he has not listened to the people, and has made so many poor decisions for our children and grandchildren.
Obama now looks like a liar, and scammer, even about his own birth and religion. Actions speak louder than words, and his actions say he hides truth so we cannot know him.
Mr. Freeman, he has wasted our taxpayer’s money on his friends, and his own expensive trips – while unemployment grows. And his wife, Michelle flaunts $40,000 bracelets while almost half of us are on food stamps. That kind of display is for after they are no longer in office.
I would appreciate it if you might consider that IF he runs for office again, and IF he allows a free election to occur (no use of Executive Orders and Presidential Directions), and IF he loses the election in ’12, it will not be because of the color of his skin. None of us choose or earn more or less pigment in our skin. But we can choose to be kind and real.
Sir, we ‘regular folk’ no longer believe him that he has the US best interests at heart. I am not a racist. I am not part of the Republican or Tea Party. I am a logical free-thinker. And I am disappointed.
It has nothing to do with his having partial dark pigment – who cares?
No one. If the economy rebounded and he hadn’t put us in more wars – and actually got us out of the ones we’re in, we would love him and cheer him on.
If he is not reelected, it is not because of prejudice; it is because of his words and actions not aligning.
Thank you,
A Fan,
Rebecca

Well, just seen a CNN clip and I’m surprised to see someone, who many people hold in high regard, making such a crass statement about the Tea Party. It’s the objective of any opposition party to want to get the incumbent president out of office, I would have thought! I wish people would get away from making such false statements (for or against)based on the colour of a person’s skin. Mark, Reading, UK

I’m a middle aged white dude, and I totally agree with you about the racist thing. And Obama has been hinderd by the stiffnecked right.
there are people that care more about their party than this country.

Mr. Freeman,
I have been a fan of yours for the better part of two decades. You are truly one of the few inspiring actors in your craft. Unfortunately, I have lost all respect for you with these comments. I know for a fact you have never been to a Tea Party rally. I know for a fact you have never sat in on a tea Party meeting. Yet you feel you can paint us as racist because we disagree with the direction the country is going under President Obama. I know you did not like George Bush’s policies.
Does that make you a racist? The God Father of my first born son is a great man, who also happens to be black. Am I a racist? A lot of white people had to vote for President Obama for him to become President.
Now that many of them, according to poles, don’t like the direction of the country are they racist?
For a man who has always come off to me as intelligent and classy, this has got to be one of the most misinformed, unintelligent and classless things I have ever heard. I expect this type of speak from low life’s like Michael Moore, not from you. You were better than that. Not anymore and that’s too bad.

First let me say how much I have always admired all of your films. I just saw an interview where you blamed the Tea Party for being racist wanting Pres. Obama to only serve one term.
I really think you don’t understand the Tea Party at all. Please don’t fall into the trap of those who claim we are racist. If that is so, why is Herman Cain my number one pick right now from all the debates I have seen. Mr. Cain is smart, witty, humorous, and an original thinker. President Obama is the first U.S. President in my lifetime, who I believe, does not like this country. Pres. Clinton had many liberal idea’s that I as a conservative did not agree with. But I never once thought he was out to destroy our country. At every turn Pres. Obama has done the exact opposite of common sense to handle the problem. I don’t think this has been just bad choice’s but a deliberate attack on our way of life. There is nothing racist about my, or the Tea Party’s dislike of Pres. Obama. Granted, there are bad apple’s in any segment of society, and I’m sure you could find a racist person in the Tea Party, but that is not what the Tea Party is about. It is concerned citizens who are afraid of the direction we are going, and what we are leaving to our children. I hope you will take the time to get to know those in the Tea Party. I think you might be surprised. Best Wishes to you.

Mr. Freeman, I have admired your acting for many, many years. However, sadly, I am no longer a fan for the simple reason that you have decided to put down tea party members (like myself) and call us “Racists”! Considering I have been a big admirer of yours, have many black friends and am by no stretch of the imagination a racist, I take great offense to being called one! The simple fact is I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE PATH MR. OBAMA IS WANTING TO TAKE THIS COUNTRY AND I AM NOT A SOCIALIST! This man stated from the get go that he wants to “Fundamentally Change America” and since taking the presidency…has been hell bent on doing just that! He hates the free market and wants absolute power to control this country and the freedom loving people in it and I’ll be damned if I’m going to put on rose colored glasses, put my head in the sand and ignore his actions in order to pacify people like yourself who desire to call anyone a RACIST that happens to disagree with his positions. If that’s the standard we are now to live by, suffice it to say the entire democratic party is full of nothing but racists (which is documented) for the simple reason that they didn’t agree with Mr. Bush’s policies and called him every name under the sun! Thereby, making them all racists, if we’re to apply the same standards you’ve set. So I guess in liberal land, that’s how it’s going to be, disagree with someone of a different color…you’re a RACIST! How sad! Consider yourself minuse 1 fan!

Hey Morgan, love your work, but maybe you should stick to acting.
You’re political analysis falls very short of your ability to act. The Tea Party and Republicans in general, do not appose Obama because he is black. They appose him because they believe in the opposite of just about everything he believes. Where black democrats racists for apposing Bush? Republicans apposed Bill Clinton often – was that because of his race? No, it’s because they have competing views of the world in general, and how to run the country in general. It’s sad to see a man with so much talent and apparent wisdom fall back to the weakest crutch anyone can use in an argument – they must be racists!
So keep up the good work (acting that is), and leave the racist stuff to real race pimps like Al Sharpton.a

I have enjoyed your work over the years. Thank you for sharing your gifts.
I just watched your interview with Piers Morgan, and feel compelled to write to you.
I am active in my local tea party, and have donated money to other Constitutional Conservatives. No one I have talked to in the Tea Party movement has ever said or done anything racist. Our objections to Obama are based on his policies. Our reaction would be the same if Joe Biden, Al Gore, or any other Progressive were the President.
I am currently sending money to a strong Constitutional Conservative who is running for the Republican Presidential nomination – Herman Cain. How can I like and support a black man if I am a racist? I am not a racist. Herman Cain has great ideas and superb guiding principals. He life is a shining example of what a boy born to poverty can achieve in America. Barack Obama is an Ivy League Progressive who has all these lofty ideas about social justice that won’t work in the real world.
I lived in Communist China for four years. Government control of the economy hurts people! It makes everyone poor. Look at Cuba and North Korea. The ideas of Karl Marx are very noble, but they fail to achieve the desired results.
America is unique in world history. This is the first time that people have established a government based on freedom, equal rights, and personal responsibility. We have created more wealth, innovation, and freedom than any country in history.
Our Constitution is a work of genius. The Founders understood human nature, and used checks and balance to keep the people free. Our government is one of the oldest in the world, and probably provides more freedom and opportunity than any other system of government.
Our culture is now engaged in a great debate. Progressives see the power and influence of multi-national corporations. They see how easily lobbyists can get the tax loopholes and laws they want by simply making strategic campaign contributions. They feel this is unfair, and they adopt the ideas of Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Mao.
Social Justice and Equal Results are very important to them.
Constitutional Conservatives believe that our rights come from our Creator, not from the government. We believe that we are free, and responsible for taking care of ourselves. We have the right to life, liberty, and property.
Christians believe that God wants them to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, and visit the imprisoned. They do not believe the government should do those things. Each person needs to make a personal choice, and take individual action.
So Progressives and Constitutional Conservatives hold mutually exclusive visions of what is best for our country. It doesn’t matter if a Progressive is white, black, yellow, or red. If they want to replace free market capitalism with government control of the economy, then we have a problem with them.
I do agree that Barack Obama has made race relations in America worse.
If Herman Cain is elected President, I think he will improve race relations. Our country is not perfect. We need to heal our wounds from the past. Freedom and personal responsibility seem like the best approach to me. I hope you agree.
All the best!
Rob

I am a big fan of your work and charitable causes. However your opinion on the tea party wanting Obama out of office because of race is disappointing. We want him out of office for the same reason we wanted Jimmy Carter out of office. Their policies are destroying this country. That and no other reason. Race is not an issue.

Dear Mr. Freeman:
I think you’re a brilliant actor and I’ve enjoyed almost every movie I’ve seen you in. However, no matter how good an actor you are you are completely wrong about the Tea Party and President Obama. The Tea Parties rejection of Obama has nothing to do with his race and everything to do with his failed policies!
Personally, I don’t care if the man is green, all I care about is how my country is run and in that regard he’s doing a very bad job. His uber leftist policies are harming the country, not helping it. It’s his policies most of us are rejecting, and that has nothing to do with his race!
Look, I’m a disabled veteran. I’ve lost almost all my hearing as a result of wounds received while serving my country. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t miss my hearing, the loss of my ability to practice my profession and deeply regret the financial devastation that all this has wrought upon my life. Still, if I knew all this would happen before I enlisted to serve, I’d still have served my country.
Mr. Obama is the most liberal President we’ve ever had and I truly believe his policies are hurting the country. Taking money from the rich to give to the poor only results in making everyone poor! Now that I’m disabled and no longer to earn the living I once did, I can speak with authority about being poor! Yet I certainly don’t hold it against you or Bill Gates that you’re rich and I don’t think that either of you should have the government take away your wealth, even to give to poor folks like me. It’s your money, you earned it, you should be able to keep it!
President Obama doesn’t see it that way. Unfortunately, his command of economics is poor and his ability to run this country that I’ve bled so much for is even poorer. None of this has anything to do with the color of his skin, none of it. So, please don’t blame his unpopularity on his skin tone. It’s all about his policies not the color of his skin!
Your a extraordinarily gifted actor. Do I like you because of the color of your skin or because you are brilliant at what you do? Sure there are people out there who are prejudice, but they are not limited to just folks with lighter skin. There’s a lot of prejudice in the black community as well. So please don’t be putting everything on race, because it makes you seem small and in your field you are a giant.
Sincerely,
Thomas B

The Tea Party is not racist! In our experience the Tea Party movement has bee totally not racist. Indeed, we know many African -American friends who are members and supporters. The real racism is the attitude that any criticism of Mr. Obama is racist. Obama is an arrogant and incompetent leader. He is a lousy president: that is why we oppose his policies.
Stop crying “racism” every time a black is criticized.

Can you please let Mr. Freeman know that characterizing all Tea Party members as racist is not only wrong, it is reverse-racism.
Although I enjoy his movies (let’s not forget that is all that they are – movies – entertainment), I have decided that enough is enough and I will no longer pay to view any of his movies or watch any of his TV shows.
I am not a Tea Party member, but I know for a fact that their beliefs are NOT rooted in racism. There are always a few bad apples, but for the most part they are hard-working, tax paying Americans who are tired of being taxed and regulated at such excessive levels. Period.
End of discussion.

I want you to know that I try to never miss your movies! I have always felt that you had great morals and a very kind heart! I was saddened to see the article that you felt the Tea Party was racist. I have been twice to see what the Tea Party was all about and I have to say they are regular folks like you and me that are just concerned about the direction our Country is going! People look up to you Mr. Freeman and at a time that we need to be pulling together for the sake of our children and grandchildren!

The last refuge of a coward is the false accusation of racism. You are and have been a long time radical hate-monger and yes, racist. That is not hyperbole but fact based on past and documented actions and statements. You are a coward and a bafoon. Your skin color doesn’t give you your accustomed entitilement to spew your racist hatred now and on many past occasions as you and your ilk are prone to do. The Lord may forgive you but I cannot. God Bless You and Peace find your soul before you pass. The Tea Party and The Mohawk Tribe.

I am a fan, and I am a tea-party member. I’m not angry but simply would like to explain something.
Yes, I would like Obama to serve only one term, but NOT because he’s black. If Justice Thomas was president I’d be supporting him 101%. No, I want Obama out because I see him as a marxist. Therefore, although I do not doubt your sincerity, what you said is just no the case. I think that Hillary is a marxist also, and she’s not black.
Obviously we have different political views, but that doesn’t mean that I’m a racist. Please try and see the difference.
Sincerely,
Vin B

It’s not about race, Morgan. I love Howard Cain and will vote for him in a minute. I just don’t think Obama has the answers and that doesn’t mean a race thing. I am tired of some people calling it a race card.It is not.

I am offended in being branded racist for having these opinions.Anyone who says this sort of thing is prejudiced, bigoted and racist themselves and up to no good.

I am pro civil liberties.Personally, I believe the tea party has been hijacked by neoconservatives, but at the same time, I don’t think they are motivated by race.

While I didn’t vote For Mr.Obama, I was proud as an American to live in a country where a black man can compete in and win a national election.
Respectfully,Gordon

I am so disappointed that I just have to comment. You are definitely a talented actor; no one can contest that. You are my most favorite actor! But you are wrong about the tea party. I want Obama out of office as soon as possible, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the color of his skin. He is leading this country down the wrong path.I detest his big government, big spending views.

I have married into a “black” family and am not a racist.Simply because I disagree with President Obama and hope he doesn’t get re-elected to continue what I believe is a negative course for America does not mean I am racist.

Your comments about the Tea Party being “RACIST” is totally wrong. We only want the U. S. government to manage their budget which they are not doing!! The American people were beguiled by his rhetorical skills and the words he spoke: ….”we are not red states or blue states we are the UNITED STATES of America” and…”Under my administration we will have the most transparent ever” and….Any bill considered will be put on our website to be scrutinized by the American people”.Paraphrasing now…The clouds will part and a new day will come to America….when he became president.SO,HE IS ELECTED….AND FROM DAY ONE….HE PROCEEDS TO….SYSTEMATICALLY AND… PURPOSEFULLY DISMANTLE THIS COUNTRY, IN ORDER TO SPREAD POVERTY AND MISERY EQUALLY, HE RULES BY FIAT AGAINST THE WISHES OF THE PEOPLE AND TOOK US TO THEBRINK. WE NEED FOUR MORE YEARS OF THIS GUYOBAMA…….(??????)THAT’S WHERE MOST AMERICANS ARE TODAY!!!!! NO!!! WE WILL NOT STAND BY NOW AND WATCH OUR COUNTRY BE DESTROYED!!!PRESIDENT OBAMA MUST BE STOPPED!!!! We don’t give a rat’s rear end WHAT COLOR HE IS!!!…IT’S HIS DISMANTELING OF A BELOVED COUNTRY, A UNIQUE ONE EVER IN THE ANNALS OF HISTORY, WHICH HAS BEEN UNDER APPRECIATED BY THE ANKLEBITERS WHO NO ONE WILL EVER PLEASE…BECAUSE IT’S THEIR NATURE……TO ALWAYS BE MALCONTENTS.As far as you’re concerned, Mr. Freeman, I have always admired you and the movies you’ve been in….BUT, in this matter, YOUR DESTRUCTIVE NAME- CALLING RHETORIC IS DIVIDING THIS BENEVOLENT AND FREEDOM LOVING COUNTRY….AND YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE BY YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN….WHO WILL ALSO SUFFER IN THIS DOWN TURN.FIGHT FOR!!!

Sidney S——————————————————————————————–
I have never written to a celeberity, thought about it, should have but never until now. I think you are a great actor. I’ve watch Shawshank Redemption at least 20 times. It was and still is great.
I am not a Tea Party member, republican or democrat. I vote for :Who will put America and our freedom above their politics.
It was a milestone to elect a black man for President of the United States. I am white. My best friend is black and was best man at my wedding. In 1989 as a meter reader for a small town, I befriended an85 year old black man named LeRoy. I made home made pancakes, helped bath LeRoy and made sure he had everything he wanted. When LeRoy had to go to the rest home , I visited LeRoy at various hour every other day to ensure they were taking care of him. LeRoy even had me read over him at his funeral. The only attendees were me, my son, my Mother and Dad and the town Doctor who LeRoy’s mother was the cleaning lady.I expected nothing, asked nothing and received nothing for the care I gave to LeRoy.
There are also some that are good in each party but not many.I would like for you to consider the opinions of Hermain Cain, Congressman Alan West.

Dear Mr. Freeman,The members of tea parties and grassroots organizations do NOT objective to the color of Obama’s skin. We object to his socialist/marxist policies that he has pushed on the American citizens and how he continues to hard to crush our economy, bring down our country, do away with the middle class. It is clear he is a proponent of socialism; he is a fan of the European Union and feels the U.S.should be like that. He is also a proponent of U.N. Agenda 21 (aka Sustainable Development).I am not just “judging” him; I’ve done a lot of research on this, on him.
Obama is a very smart man; he can see that stimuluses and this job plan will NOT create manufacturing jobs; that is what the U.S. needs.High taxes and unreasonable EPA regulations have driven corporations out of this country.
Sincerely,Jane BWilmington DE

Thank you,A Fan,Rebeccafrom Nashville, TN

Well, just seen a CNN clip and I’m surprised to see someone, who many people hold in high regard, making such a crass statement about the Tea Party. It’s the objective of any opposition party to want to get the incumbent president out of office, I would have thought! I wish people would get away from making such false statements (for or against)based on the colour of a person’s skin. Mark, Reading, UK

I’m a middle aged white dude, and I totally agree with you about the racist thing. And Obama has been hinderd by the stiffnecked right. there are people that care more about their party than this country.

Mr. Freeman,I have been a fan of yours for the better part of two decades. I know you did not like George Bush’s policies.Does that make you a racist? The God Father of my first born son is a great man, who also happens to be black. Am I a racist? A lot of white people had to vote for President Obama for him to become President. Now that many of them, according to poles, don’t like the direction of the country are they racist? For a man who has always come off to me as intelligent and classy, this has got to be one of the most misinformed, unintelligent and classless things I have ever heard. I expect this type of speak from low life’s like Michael Moore, not from you. You were better than that. Not anymore and that’s too bad.
michael campbell——————————————————————————————–
First let me say how much I have always admired all of your films. I just saw an interview where you blamed the Tea Party for being racist wanting Pres. Obama to only serve one term.I really think you don’t understand the Tea Party at all.

How sad! Consider yourself minuse 1 fan!

greg m——————————————————————————————–

They feel this is unfair, and they adopt the ideas of Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Mao.Social Justice and Equal Results are very important to them.
All the best!Rob

I am a big fan of your work and charitable causes. However your opinion on the tea party wanting Obama out of office because of race is disappointing. We want him out of office for the same reason we wanted Jimmy Carter out of office. Their policies are destroying this country. That and no other reason. Race is not an issue.

Dear Mr. Freeman:I think you’re a brilliant actor and I’ve enjoyed almost every movie I’ve seen you in.

He is a lousy president: that is why we oppose his policies.Stop crying “racism” every time a black is criticized.M. Healy & family

Period.End of discussion.

Sincerely,Vin B
